Delaware River Report / Conditions April 10, 2021
The release from Cannonsville has been dropped and the West Branch flow at Stilesville shows 396 cfs this morning. Most likely that was done in anticipation of the rain this week adding runoff to the system. The last few warm days have really helped the water temps and most of the system is looking good this morning. The warm nights really help. We’ll hit the 70’s today and only drop into the low 50’s overnight. We should see some cloud cover in the afternoon but no rain until tomorrow. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South. It looks like a great fishing day.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 9, 2021
The release from Cannonsville was dropped yesterday afternoon and sits at 671 cfs this morning. It’s going to be cooler today with the air temp hitting 63 degrees. We will get some cloud cover which we’ve needed the last few days. Wind will be 10 mph from the South. We warm up to the 70’s again tomorrow with more sun. Still a lot of stoneflies and black caddis around so keep an eye for risers. Otherwise streamers and nymphs have brought the most fish to net. Nymphing seemed especially productive yesterday.
The water temps are getting better everyday. We should see good hatches soon.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 8, 2021
Yesterday was the nicest day of the year so far. It was almost hot outside in the sun. Today looks just as nice. We’ll have sunshine, the air temp will hit 70 degrees, and wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North. We’ll see some clouds push in tomorrow with the chance of a few showers. Streamers and nymphs are still the best producers but people are catching fish on stoneflies and small caddis too. The dry fly fishing will improve as the water temperatures climb over the next couple of weeks.

We have a little rain falling this morning but it should be negligible. It looks like we have a good day ahead of us with the air temp hitting 68 degrees, some cloud cover, and wind 5 – 10 mph from the North. That’s a really nice fishing day for early April. The next few days look beautiful too! The release from Cannonsville has been dropped slightly to 965 cfs.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 6, 2021
The release from Cannonsville has been cut back to 1,198 cfs. Cannonsville Reservoir is at 99.7% so the spill has stopped. The rivers are still dropping as the runoff subsides. We’re right around 30 degrees this morning but should hit 60 with some sunshine this afternoon. More wind from the North today at 10 – 15 mph. Wunderground shows the wind dropping tomorrow. That will be a huge help. Most of the fish are still being caught on streamers and nymphs. There are some stoneflies and caddis on the water so keep your eyes open.
Air temps look great in the 10 day forecast. We may see some rain towards the end ofthe weekend but chances are good that forecast will change.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 5, 2021
Yesterday turned out to be a nice one. Good sunshine and the temp approached 60 degrees. The wind was tough at times but manageable. It was a nice day on the water. Today looks a lot like yesterday with sun, warm air temp, and wind. There were some bugs on the water but nymphing and streamers were still the best producers. The dry fly fishing should pick up as the water levels drop and temps rise. The air temps look great all the way into next week.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 4, 2021
It took a while to warm up yesterday but y late afternoon it was pleasant outside. We’re starting off a little warmer at 31 degrees this morning and we’ll end warmer than yesterday right around 60 degrees. Wind should be around 10 mph from the North. The release from Cannonsville is still 1499 cfs but the flow is dropping slowly at Hale Eddy. the rest of the rivers in the system are dropping too and there are both wade and float options at these levels. Streamers and nymphs early with the possibility of some stoneflies and caddis in the afternoon during the warmest part of the day.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 3, 2021
The thermometer is showing 16 degrees this morning but we should see it hit 50 by the afternoon. We’ll see some sunshine and wind 5 – 10 mph from the North. Even the wind will be better today. The 10 day forecast still looks good with warmer days and cool nights. The runoff is subsiding so most of the river flows are dropping. The flow is pretty steady at Stilesville with a release of 1,499 cfs. Cannonsville is spilling 19 cfs. It will take a while for everything to warm up this afternoon so streamers and nymphs will be your best bets. There stoneflies and caddis should be active by mid day so keep a dry fly rod handy just in case.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 2, 2021
The snow wasn’t as bad as the news channel led us to believe. We’ve had worse snow in April. They nailed the wind forecast though. The snow melted yesterday but it is 22 degrees this morning. It looks like we’ll be on the unpleasant side of freezing until Saturday afternoon. We should hit 50 degrees then and things look decent all week.
The water temps dropped a bit with the runoff and air temp so if you are fishing today nymphs and streamers fished slow will be your best bet.

Delaware River Report / Conditions April 1, 2021
It’s finally April. It’s also 33 degrees and snowing. The weather warms up Saturday and looks really good through next week. March seemed pretty normal with a mix of cold days and really warm days. People are catching fish now. There are some caddis and stoneflies around plus just a few olives. Streamers have brought most of the fish to net so far but nymphing has been working too.
Cannonsville is spilling a little (1.5 cfs) and the rain / snow has the river flows up a little this morning. The release from Cannonsville is 1,499 cfs.

Alpaca Dubbing from The Fly Warrior
We’ve teamed up with Michael Johnson to offer a line of Alpaca Dubbing Furs. Many people know Michael from the Delaware, the Fly Fishing Shows, and his Instagram Account @theflywarrior.
Michael sources the 100% natural Alpaca fur from the Upper Delaware Region. It is then dyed and processed in small batches by Michael himself to match the major hatches.
Alpaca dubbing is a great substitute for baby seal, floats well, and is suitable for both dry flies and nymphs. It is also a green and sustainable product. Check it our in our online store here
