Olives, a few Heptagenia, and Isonychias have been out in the afternoons. Not always great numbers but enough to see some fish rise. We’re also still seeing decent numbers of Isonychia spinners over the water. Eventually they’ll drop to the water so have those patterns handy. Streamers are working in low light but stick below Hale Eddy because of the algae. Same still applies to nymphing. The cooler air temps have helped the water temps quite a bit so there are a lot of options to explore.

Today will be 71 degrees with some clouds clearing in the afternoon. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.

The rivers are still dropping back slowly and everything looks good today. The cooler air temps have really helped the water temps. It should push the bugs earlier. but it also may end them earlier in the day when the temps drop quickly Keep that in mind when timing your fishing as we get deeper into Fall. Small olives, Isonychias, and a few sulphurs were on the water yesterday. There is still a lot of algae in Deposit so nymphing is still best below Hale Eddy.

Today will be 70 degrees with abundant sunshine. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.

The West Branch looks good this morning with decent clarity. The flow at Hale Eddy is 999 cfs and dropping. The release is now 475 cfs. Yesterday was an odd one because we tarted off clear, got slightly dirty, started to clear, and then got dirty again. Just isolated rain that hit different river sections at different times. There is no rain in the forecast today. There have been good Isonychia spinners for the last two nights. In the air. We haven’t seen them hit the water with daylight left. #18 – 20 olives have been our best fly over the last couple of days despite the bigger bugs being around.

Today will be 68 degrees with sunshine. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.

We had some rain overnight with light showers still falling this morning. The flows have bumped slightly but so far everything looks good. Oquaga Creek is up 30 cfs. We’re hitting a cooler stretch of weather which should help the water temps and hatching on the lower river sections. Today definitely looks like an olive day. If we do see sunshine and humidity this afternoon keep an eye on the water for flying ants

Today will be much cooler hitting 71 degrees. We have light rain falling now bu may see some sunshine in the afternoon. This morning’s rainfall should only total .04″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

The river flows dropped a bit and clarity is fine this morning. The water temps look fine but the best hatching will still be in the coldest water sections. We need a good drop in air temp to push the fall bugs on the lower river sections. Still seeing a few sulphurs and olives. There are Isonychias around and a few flying ants here and there. Nymphing and wets will still be best on the lower West due to the algae up top. The upper East is in great shape with no algae. The overcast sky and cooler air temps should help the water temps on the lower East and Mainstem.

Today will be 79 degrees. Mostly cloudy this morning clearing to partly cloudy this afternoon. Wind will be light and variable.

The river flows are dropping despite a few rain showers overnight. The rivers look good this morning – clarity is fine. There were some olive and sulphur hatches on the upper river yesterday giving some people dry fly shots. Nymphing and wets will still be best on the lower West due to the algae up top. The upper East is in great shape with no algae. The overcast sky and cooler air temps should help the water temps on the lower East and Mainstem.

Today will be 73 degrees. There is a chance of morning thunderstorms turning to cloudy skies in the afternoon. Wind will be light and variable.

The West Branch has cleared quite a bit since yesterday afternoon. The flow at Hale Eddy is 1,090 and falling slowly. We had some rain overnight but the feeders seem in better shape this morning. There are some thunderstorms in the forecast so watch the radar and the gauges below for the most up to date flows. People landed some fish despite the conditions yesterday. The lower West Branch was a combination of streamers and nymphs. The Stilesville area remained clean and people did find some fish rising to olives and a couple of sulphurs.

Today will be 74 degrees with partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wind will be light and variable.

10 am River Update. The feeder stream runoff has caught up to us and we are seeing color in the lower West Branch, Hopefully it pushes through today

Yesterday’s storms missed us on the lower West Branch. We did get hit one with this morning. The clarity is decent out front. The flow at Hale Eddy is 1,610 cfs and is already dropping. Stilesville looks fine at 507 cfs. It should be clear. Same fishing program. Look for the coldest water for daytime hatches. With the weather there is a decent shot at olives. Have some flying ants handy too. The higher water could be good for streamers if we don’t get hit with bright sunshine.

Today will be 77 degrees with partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wind will be light and variable.

We were hit with a few thunderstorms yesterday but overall the West Branch came through them okay. The flow at Hale Eddy is 721 cfs and already dropping. Homepool is clear and looks good this morning. The West Branch level is fine for wading and floating. The Beaverkill, lower East, and Mainstem flows are still coming up. Looking at the Beaverkill gauge it is probably off color too. We may see some additional storms this afternoon so keep an eye on the radar and click the gauge links below for the latest flows. Today could be a good day for olives and hopefully a few Isonychias. The cloud cover should help. There is still algae in the upper West so nymphing will be less frustrating on the lower sections of river.

Today will be 82 degrees with partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wind will be light and variable.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls and the East Branch at Fishs Eddy peaked at 68 degrees yesterday The Mainstem at Lordville peaked over 70. They will peak higher today. It’s time to give these rivers a break again.

Today will be a hot one hitting 89 degrees. We do have a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon so keep an eye on the radar. The predicted rain amount doesn’t look bad at .19″ during the day with some additional rain overnight. With heat stick to the coldest river sections. There are a few sulphurs left with the olives. The algae situation hasn’t changed so if you’re nymphing stick to the lower West. Rain and heat are a great combination for flying ants so definiely keep a lookout for them this afternoon.

Today will be 89 degrees with sunshine this morning. By the afternoon we’ll see more clouds roll in with a chance of thunderstorms. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls and the East Branch at Fishs Eddy peaked at 68 degrees yesterday The Mainstem at Lordville peaked over 70. They will peak higher today. It’s time to give these rivers a break again.

There was a pulse from Cannonsville overnight that brought the flow at Stilsville to 600 cfs. It is already dropping back to normal. Most likely this was a thermal release to “protect” the Mainstem. Once the fog burns off we’re looking at the exact same weather as yesterday. So it should fish the same. The best bet for dry flies will be in the coldest eater closest to the dams. Probably some sulphurs and olives. The algae is pretty bad so if you’re planning on fishing underneath stick down lower on the river. Hatching on the lower river will be pushed late as the sun drops into dark.

Today will be 88 degrees with a mix of clouds and sun. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls and the East Branch at Fishs Eddy peaked at 68 degrees yesterday The Mainstem at Lordville peaked over 70. They will peak higher today. It’s time to give these rivers a break again.

Today will feel a lot like July. We have some fog on the water this morning making for a decent shot with streamers. Once that burns off head to the coldest water and look for the leftover sulphurs with a few olives or nymph and swing wets on the lower West. Just like July. The algae in Deposit has been heavy lately so nymphing up top is really not fun at all. If you don’t have dry fly action towards Stilesville drop below Hale to fish underneath.

Today will be 88 degrees with a mix of clouds and sun. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
