Delaware River Report / Conditions July 1, 2017

We did have a few showers yesterday and the flows jumped a bit on the Beaverkill, Upper East Branch, and the West Branch above Cannonsville.  The West Branch below the dam looks great this morning and is cold.  The release from Cannonsville is 699 cfs.  Olives, sulphurs, and cahills seem to be the most common hatches with some isonychias thrown in for good measure.  There are still some caddis over the riffles mid day with an occasional fish getting a shot at them.  Streamer fishing has picked up a bit with the higher flows but is still best in low light conditions or after dark.  The lower Beaverkill, lower East Branch, and Lower Mainstem have temperatures spiking around 70 degrees.  They are starting off high this morning already so if you are fishing anywhere besides the West Branch check the water with a thermometer.  We may see some additional rain this morning but the storms seem to be tracking north of us for the most part.  Wunderground has downgraded the forecasted precipitation by half since yesterday.  We may see a little more than 1/4″ which should be fine.
