Delaware River Report / Conditions July 30, 2018

Today should be a lot like yesterday.  Mostly sun, high around 80, and light wind from the North.  The Release from Cannonsville is still 530 cfs keeping the lower river cooler than we’ve seen lately.  It’s also a good level for floating and wading.  Nymphing should work early while the bugs are active before the hatch.  Mid day sulphurs are still coming off on the upper river.  We expect the hatches on the lower river to come off a little earlier with the cooler water temps.  Sulphurs, cahills, and olives should cover most of your needs.  Definitely have some isonychia patterns just in case.  They are definitely around although come days the hatching has been better than others.

Despite the higher flows there are still temperature issues on the lower East Branch, Beaverkill, and Mainstem.  The cooler nights have helped but we should still give them a break. Stick to the West Branch or the upper East Branch for trout. As the flows drop those rivers will heat up again in the sun over the next few days.
