Delaware River Report / Conditions September 13, 2019

People had a good day out there yesterday mostly with flying ants.  There were some olives, isos, cahills, and caddis but most people were talking about the ants.  Bigger fish showed and were happy on top mid afternoon.  The light rain and cloud cover definitely helped.  We’ll have a lot more sunshine today.  Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South and the air temp will reach 70 degrees.  The lower release cleared the river a little bit and it looks like there are fewer weeds making nymphing or even throwing streamers good options early.

It appears NYC DEP is going to continue their historical yo yo releases.   The release from Cannonsville was dropped yesterday and then increased again.  The flow at Stilesville is 761 cfs this morning.  This is likely due to the Montague flow target.  The releases from Lake Wallenpaupack should be low this week so the release from Cannonsville was increased.  There is a whitewater release tomorrow from the Mongaup River so they decided they could save a few drops of water by dropping our release for a few hours.
