They did another brief pulse release from Cannonsville last night but the flows are already dropping back at 6 am this morning. We’ll likely settle back in the 450- 500 cfs range at Stilesville. Today’s weather looks a lot like yesterday. We’ll see a few clouds but mostly sun with the air temp reaching 85 degrees. No wind and a 10% chance of precipitation. So the first August report of 2020 is going to sound just like most of July. Midday go up close to the dams in the coldest water for the best shot at dry fly fishing. If you stay lower the best timing for dry flies will be early and late. The lower WB will be better for nymphing because of the algae in the upper river. We have a higher chance of some precipitation tonight and tomorrow but it shouldn’t be enough to affect flows.
The lower Beaverkill, lower East Branch, and Mainstem temperatures are all peaking over 70 degrees. Give those rivers a break until they cool down.
