Delaware River Report / Conditions July 4, 2019

Happy Independence Day!

Yesterday was tough in the heat and sun but the bugs were hatching.  The bigger fish were a bit shy until the sun dropped a bit in the evening. Sulphurs, cahills, and isonychias in the evening.  Stick to the shaded areas during day if you’re looking for rising fish. Nymphing and swinging wets have been putting some fish in the net too.  Today’s weather looks a lot like yesterday.  Hot with bright sun.  Wind from the south 5 – 10 mph.  We have some rain moving in tomorrow and Saturday that should bring us some relief.  Stick to the tailwaters or headwaters today.  Water temps will be best closer to the dams.  The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville all peaked over 70 degrees yesterday and will go higher today.
