Delaware River Report / Conditions June 1, 2015

The Cannonsville release was increased to 224 cfs this morning.
Yesterday’s overcast skies and last night cool air temps have definitely helped the water temperatures this morning.  The temps are still dropping and we are looking at another overcast day with some light rain and air temps in the mid 60’s.  We should be okay on most of the system today but check the Mainstem and the lower East Branch with your thermometer if you’re headed to those rivers.  A lot of the rain missed us yesterday so the rivers are clear and wadeable this morning.  There is more rain forecasted over the next three days.  Hopefully the storms don’t miss us and we keep the flows up.

We had decent numbers of isonychias yesterday but most were crawling out on the rocks.  Sulphurs, dark caddis, stenos / cahills, and small olive made up the bulk of the mayflies towards dark.  March browns, green drakes, and gray foxes are coming to an end but we still have spinners around offering decent fishing at night.  Nymphing was decent during the day and swinging isonychia wet flies worked for some people mid afternoon.
