Delaware River Report / Conditions September 18, 2020

The clouds finally moved in during the late afternoon yesterday.  The rain didn’t happen so all of the rivers are starting off about the same as yesterday.  Water temps still look great due to the colder weather.  Small olives are hatching in the afternoon and we’re seeing more and more heptagenia each day. Fish are eating both.  Isonychias and caddis should round out your fly selection.  Add a couple white flies if you’re fishing the Mainstem.  We’ll hit 62 degrees today with mostly sun.  There should be a few clouds moving in during the afternoon.  The wind is going to pick up to around 15 mph in the afternoon but hopefully that drops off in the evening.  That’s bringing the cooler weather since we’ll drop to 34 degrees overnight.

We’re beginning to see a bit of cloudiness in the West Branch from the release.  It’s slight right now and doesn’t bother the fish.  It happens every Fall when the reservoir begins to turn over.
