It looks like the heat is over for now. We should see a high of 73 degrees dropping into the low 60’s at night. They’re feeling extra confident at Wunderground today calling for a 100% chance of rain. We do have cloud cover this morning. Showers should start around noon and go into the night giving us just over 1/2″ of rain. Wind will be 5 -10 mph from the North. The release from Cannonsville has been dropped back now that the extreme heat has passed. The flow at Stilesville is at 597 cfs this morning. There will probably be fog out there with the rain but the wind should help clear it and keep decent visibility. Olives, sulphurs, and isonychas should cover most of what you’ll see.
The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville are all starting off today too hot to fish for trout. If you’re fishing for trout give those areas a break and fish in the cold water closer to the dams or the headwaters of the freestone rivers.
