Yesterday was as advertised – hot and sunny. Most of the early dry fly action was on caddis and morning spinners. Nymphing was best during the heat of the day but there were some hatches again in the evening. Tan and apple caddis, march browns, sulphurs, and a few cahills are making up the bulk of the hatch. The release from Cannonsville was bumped slightly to 450 cfs. Today will start off sunny with some afternoon storms. We’ll hit 88 degrees with wind from the south 10 – 20 mph. We’ll cool down overnight. The lower East Branch, Beaverkill, and Mainstem at Lordville all peaked just under 70 degrees yesterday and are starting off in the mid 60’s today. If you plan to fish those rivers this afternoon check the temps first.
