Delaware River Report: June 30, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

There is some haze in the air from the wildfires but so far it hasn’t been terrible. Just noticeable. Nymphing and swinging wets were the best bets during the day yesterday. Blind casting Isonychias or light cahills in the riffles (with or without a dropper) would be another option today. Sulphurs and olives should hatch as the sun is dropping offering some dry fly shots. There has been some algae on the Upper West so if you’re nymphing stick lower on the river.

Today will be 82 degrees with sun and a few clouds in the morning. We should see some additional cloud cover in the afternoon. Wind will be 5-10 mph from the South.

What’s Hatching:
Sulphur – #16 – 20 – E. dorothea
Slate Drake – 12-2xl – 12 – Isonychia bicolor
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #18 – 20 – deficiens, lata
