Delaware River Report: August 3, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

Looking at the hourly forecast we should have sun until mid afternoon. So sticking with the normal summer program makes the most sense. Small sulphurs and olives should hatch midday in the coldest sections. There is still algae in the upper river so nymphing is better below Hale Eddy. If we do get some rain we may see some olives and Isonychias on the lower West. Otherwise blind casting the riffles o swinging wet flies would be good options.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville temperatures all peaked in the high 60’s. Please check them with thermometer before fishing.

Today will be 79 degrees with sunshine and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South. We may see some stronger gusts depending on how the storms track.
