Delaware River Report: June 28, 2024

Yesterday’s temperatures were a welcome relief from the hot days we’ve had so far. The wind was tough and didn’t relent until late into the evening. However, the bugs were still hatching and less fussy about presentation.

We saw plenty of sulphurs in the afternoon on the lower West Branch. Cahills, Isos and small olives were also mixed in. Bring along a few caddis today if you’re out midday.

Today will be 76 degrees and mostly sunny. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the East and much more manageable.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville water temps all peaked at 70 degrees or higher yesterday. It’s still time to give these rivers a break.
