We had a few afternoon rain showers yesterday but the West Branch flows are steady with no bump this morning. We have some fog this morning but that should burn off in the next hour. So it’s the normal Summer program today. Midday sulphurs and small olives in the coldest water on the upper river sections will be the best dry fly shots. If you’re not seeing some bugs by lunch move. Nymphing or swinging wets will be a bit better on the mid to lower West. Look for spots that get shade earlier in the day. Once the sun drops we should see some olives and a few Isonychias.
Today will be 88 degrees with sun and clouds mixed. There is a slight chance of an afternoon shower. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps will climb too high in today’s sunshine. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
