Delaware River Report: August 25, 2024

Flying ants were out yesterday and people were finding fish eating them. While not the biggest ant fall there were enough throughout the river to get fish looking up. towards dark we had the normal tiny olives mixed with a few Isonychias. There are still a few cahills and sulphurs hanging on too. Nymphing was the best bet early with the bright sunshine. Today’s weather looks a lot like yesterday so it should fish the same.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville all peaked around 68 degrees yesterday. Today they will peak a little higher. It’s time to give these rivers a break again.

Today will be 82 degrees with sun and a few clouds. Wind will be light and variable.
