The release from Cannonsville is 500 cfs. The rain mostly slid around us and the West Branch is in great shape this morning. The cooler air temps have dropped the water temps a few degrees too. The best midday dry fly fishing is still in the coldest water on the Upper West and Upper East. Sulphurs and olives are making up the majority of the bugs. The lower West is fishing with Isonychias and Cahills. Blind casting has worked well when there are no bugs on the water. We’ll have more sunshine today so work the riffles or nymph on the lower river.
The Beaverkill, Lower East Branch, and Mainstem water temps are still peaking in the mid to high 70’s. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.
