Delaware River Report: September 20, 2025

The release from Cannonsville is 1,227 cfs. Since the release has the “tint” to it the higher the release the more off color the West Branch looks. Wading is getting tough on the West Branch. There a couple spots it can work but there are better wade opportunities on the Upper East branch and Mainstem. Again it would be much better for both rivers if DEP split the release between the West Branch and East Branch but that never seems to be of interest to them. Hopefully we see a few more clouds today. Small olives are making up the bulk of the hatch with some hebes in the afternoon. there are a few Isonychias, Cahills, and flying ants around.

Today will be 72 degrees with a mix clouds and sun. Wind will be light and variable.

Sadly Ryan Geiges, a friend and former DRC guide, recently lost his battle with cancer. He will be missed by many – both off and on the water. There is a GoFundMe for Ryan’s family if you’d like to support them in this difficult time.
