The release from Cannonsville has been raised slightly to 1,054 cfs this morning to meet downstream flow targets. This seems like a good opportunity to switch a few hundred cfs of the Cannonsville release to Pepacton and add some water to the East Branch drainage.
We’re still fishing small olives mixed with a few isonychias and heptagenias. The bright sun seemed to push the hatching to later in the evening. There were some heptagenia spinners in sections towards dark. The amount of caddis we are seeing seems to be increasing so it feels like the start of our normal fall fishing. There is some chalkiness to the West Branch so the East Branch and Mainstem should offer better nymphing opportunities.
Today’s air temperatures should hit the mid 60’s with negligible winds. The nighttime air temperatures are dropping into the 40’s so bring a fleece.
