We’re back to some cloud cover and rain. That’s great news for the hatches after a few days of heat and bright sun. The next few days definitely look like blue wing olive days. We should see some better / earlier flushes of Heptagenia and Isonychias too. The caddis have been on the bushes. Occasionally people are seeing some on the water so keep an eye out for slashy rises in the riffles. Nymphs and wet flies should fish better with the cloud cover too.

Today will be 70 degrees, cloudy, with a chance of showers. Today’s rainfall should be less than 1/10″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

What’s Hatching:
Olive Sulphur – # 18 – 20 – Heptagenia hebe
Slate Drake – # 12 – 14 – Isonychia bicolor

It’s another morning of thick fog. There are a few people throwing streamers early to take advantage of it before the sun hits the water. It should burn off over the next couple of hours leaving us with partly cloudy skies. So sunshine. We will be much cooler today at least. Work the riffles during the day. Nymphing or wet flies have been effective but you can also blind cast Isonychias or caddis patterns. The hatches may be a pushed a little later in the day due to the bright sun. We may see some clouds push in during the late afternoon. That would definitely be a bonus.

Today will be 77 degrees with fog early turning partly cloudy. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

There is thick fog this morning that should burn off in a couple of hours. People are catching some fish on streamers before the bright sun hits the water. Once the sun hits nymphs and wet flies will be a good choice. Blind casting Isonychias in the riffles could also pay off. Keep an eye out for caddis in the riffles. The flow at Hale Eddy is 327 cfs. The West Branch is in great shape for wading but floating is better on the lower East Branch and Mainstem. We’ll have bright sun and warm air once the morning fog burns off. So it should fish similar to yesterday. Nymphs and wets are the best bets early with the better dry fly shots coming later in the afternoon. Some sections may see some caddis activity in the sun. It still mostly olives, Hetagenia, and Isonychias.

Today will be 80 degrees with fog early turning to sunshine. Wind will be light and variable.

The release from Cannonsville was cut back to 175 cfs yesterday. It looks more like 200 on the gauge. The flow at Hale Eddy is 337 cfs. Great for wading. If you’re floating stick to the lower East Branch or Mainstem. Sometimes a drop in flow can push bugs so today could have potential despite the bright sunshine. It will definitely help the nymphing and wet fly fishing. The bright sun and warmer air temp may push the bugs a little later into the evening. It still mostly olives, Hetagenia, and Isonychias with a few people doing well with caddis.

Today will be 76 degrees with lots of sunshine. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

We’ve been used to the cloud cover again but we should be dealing with sunshine again this afternoon. It’s going to be fogy for a bit so streamer fishing early could pay off. We have seen some flying ant on the water along with the usual mayflies and caddis. Olives, Heptagenia, and a few Isonychias. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy.

Today will be 76 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

Most of the rain stayed East of us and the rivers look fine this morning. We’re much luckier than many we;ve seen on the news. Callicoon Creek was high and dirty last night. That’s the only one we’ve seen changed so far. The lower East and Beaverkill flows bumped slightly but mot enough to blow anything out. Olives, Heptagenia, and a few Isonychias should hatch in the early afternoon. The bugs have been a bit spotty in different sections so don’t be afraid to bounce around a bit. Especially with the sunshine this afternoon. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy.

The forecast changes every time we check so keep an eye on the radar today. Right now they are calling for .3″ of rain with some localized heavier rain. Wind won’t be a factor today. The flows have dropped a bit more since yesterday and everything looks good this morning. The cloud and rain should help push the bugs like it did last weekend. Olives, Heptagenia, and a few Isonychias should hatch in the early afternoon. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy.

Today will be 62 degrees with light rain totaling around 1/4″. Wind will be light and variable.

The river flows have dropped quite a bit overnight and every river is in good shape this morning. The river flows have dropped back quite a bit and everything looks good this morning. The East and West Branches are at good levels for floating and wading. The Beaverkill is still running a bit high at 1,440 cfs but that should continue to drop back today Today we’ll have more sunshine than we’ve seen in a while but that should be fine with the decent water temps. Nymphing or swinging wets would be good bets early with olives, Heptagenia, and a few Isonychias in the afternoon. Caddis may be more active with the sunshine and warmer air temps. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy.

The river flows are dropping back and the West Branch looks good this morning with a flow of 715 cfs at Hale Eddy. We’re in good shape for floating and wading today. The Lower East and Mainstem are still high but dropping. Overall yesterday was a good day fishing both streamers and dries. Today looks similar so streamers or nymphs early and look for olives in the afternoon. It definitely looks like olive weather. Have a few Isonychias and Heptagenia with yo too. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy.

Today will be 63 degrees, overcast, with a slight chance of a shower. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the East.

We had a bit more rain than was forecasted. The flow at Hale Eddy is 797 cfs and rising. At 7 am the clarity is fine in Home Pool. Oquaga Creek bumped to 116 cfs so we may see some color come down mid morning. The lower East is 1,360 cfs and the Mainstem is 3,800 cfs. The Beaverkill is over 1,000 cfs. The rain should end this morning but use the gauge links below for the latest flow information. We had decent olives again yesterday during the rain breaks. Streamers worked well during the rain. Overall it was a good day for people who stuck it out. We’re still seeing algae in the Upper West Branch so streamers and nymphing are better below Hale Eddy. The Upper East does not have any algae.

Today will be 61 degrees with light rain tapering off to showers in the afternoon. Daytime rainfall should be .04″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
