Upper Delaware River Report — July 4, 2010
Flows on the West Branch have dropped some since yesterday, after another change in the release rate from Cannonsville Reservoir. This means that most fishing is once again going to be concentrated to the Upper West Branch, where water temperatures are still very nice and cool. The high temperatures for the next few days will be in the 90s, with a lot of sun in the forecast for today. Morning and evening will offer the best chance for fisherman to see bug activity, as well as escape from some of the midday heat.
Hope everyone has a great Fourth of July!

Upper Delaware River Report — July 3, 2010
Today is going to be another sunny day with clear skies and no rain in the forecast. It should be a beautiful weekend to get out and spend some quality time on the river. Cannonsville has dropped their release rate down to 520 cfs, which will leave plenty of water to float as well as open up more areas to wade fisherman. Yesterday’s high release of 817 cfs should have helped to flush out the river and get rid of some of the green slime in the water. Over the past week, water temperatures have remained nice and cool all across the board. There has been a lot of bug activity, with a variety of Sulphurs, Olives and Iso’s on the surface. We should expect to see the same bugs on the water today.

Upper Delaware River Report — July 2, 2010
The fishing has been very good the past couple of days and should only improve with the recent release from Cannonsville Reservoir, which has more than doubled yesterday’s flows on the West Branch. Despite the high release rate, your best fishing will still be on the Upper West Branch today. After the water temperatures further downstream start to settle, giving the fish and bugs a chance to adjust, many more opportunities along the Delaware River will open up for anglers and give the crowds a chance to spread out. Today’s forecast shows that it should be another cool and sunny day with clear skies. Tomorrow should be much of the same, with some clouds and a slight chance of rain expected in the morning.
This water level is perfect for floating, and doing so with one of our experienced guides will give you your best opportunity to catch the fish of a lifetime. Upper Delaware River Report — July 1, 2010
Today’s forecast is sunny, and you can expect it to remain that way for at least a few days. There is not a chance of rain in the forecast until next Tuesday. Water temperatures are looking good, with both the Main Stem and East Branch becoming fishable again. The Upper West Branch has been the place to be lately, providing awesome fishing throughout the day. Reports from yesterday were that there was lots of bug activity, with great Sulphur hatches and good Olives and Isos. A number of people said they had quality fish to cast to the whole time. Hopefully yesterday repeats itself and it is another great day on the water.

Upper Delaware River Report — June 30, 2010
Cooler air is here, and it has already taken effect on the water temperatures which are down a couple of degrees all across the board. Night time lows below 50 degrees should only help to further cool it down. Today’s forecast shows bright sun all day, with no chance of rain. However, with the cooler water there should be consistent bug activity throughout most of the day. Yesterday evening brought a great Sulphur hatch, as well as Olives, Isos and Caddis. Today should bring much of the same, and should be a good overall day for being out on the water.

According to the forecast for the rest of the week, we should not have a day with a high above 80 degrees until Saturday. Hopefully that weather will help keep the water temperatures down a little as we head into July. Today should be partly cloudy with a very slight chance of rain. If it gets cloudy, look for Olives on the water. Otherwise, continue throwing Sulphurs, Caddis and Isos while looking for targets, or try nymphing while the bright sun is out. We have been able to get good fish the past couple of days, so now is a great time to be on the water.

Today’s forecast looks like we are going to have good cloud coverage for the majority of the day with scattered t-Storms entering the area around 1:00. Today I would expect to see good BWO’s during much of the day, mixed in with the olives there should be plenty of sulphurs, some Iso’s and maybe even a few Caddis. Even with the hot sunny day that we had yesterday the river temps continue to look good on the West Branch. If you are having trouble locating targets but want to stay on the surface, try drumming some fish up using a large Iso pattern in the Riffles.

Upper Delaware River Report — June 27, 2010
Yesterday’s overcast skies proved to be a great BWO day on the West Branch. Although there were plenty of fishermen on the Upper West Branch yesterday, no one should have had too much trouble locating targets, as many fish were feeding on Sulphurs and BWO’s throughout much of the day on the surface. Water temps on the Upper West Branch never made it out of the low 50’s where as the Lower West Branch barely saw 60º during the warmest part of the day. Today we can expect similar conditions as we had yesterday with a bit more sun during mid day.

Today looks like it will be a fine day to be on the water. The BWO’s (size 22-24) should be hatching in good numbers with the overcast skies. Sulphurs should still be coming off, along with some scattered Iso’s, on the Upper West Branch. With a 30% chance of Thunderstorms, make sure you bring your rain gear with you.

This morning has started off looking like a great day to fish, the skies are overcast and the water temps are in the 40’s on the West Branch. Get out on the river as early as possible because it looks like the afternoon is going to heat up to the mid 80’s, so try Nymphing during the hot sunny parts of the day. The evening should bring some success, as there has been a good Sulphur and BWO hatch the past few days. If you’re not seeing any rises, try drumming the banks with an ISO.

Today looks like it is going to be a good morning with overcast skies and mild air temperatures. Later this afternoon it looks like a thunderstorm my roll into the area and last much of the day. Today has potential to be a great olive day again during the afternoon, sulphurs should show up in good numbers during the day also. Tonight look for large stoneflies and also keep a good eye out for iso’s and iso spinners. The West Branch is still flowing around 5oo cfs at Hale Eddy which is a very good level for those looking to wade fish.

Yesterday’s rainy weather gives way to a day full of sunshine and a few clouds, with a high of 87º in the forecast for today. Late night thunderstorms will carry on through tomorrow afternoon, which should make for great fishing tomorrow, especially if yesterday’s weather was any indicator. Yesterday was an excellent day to be on the water, with angler’s reporting large amounts of bug activity and rising fish. Tiny BWOs seemed to have done the trick, as well as small Sulphurs. Today the surface action will be more concentrated to the evening and early morning, so try nymphing during the day or searching with an Iso pattern if you don’t have any targets.
