First Client Fish of they Year!!

Dan Rechenberg traveled all the way from Germany to give the Delaware a go, and he managed to land a great brown while out floating with Wiley and his good Swiss friend, Mattias Zehnder. This guy was caught on a streamer, but they both landed some nice fish on dries while they were here – we know they’ll be back!

Very odd weather day yesterday – the threat of rain, then bright sun, and back again. Chimmarra caddis were cruising around in droves, Jeff White got a good shot of one:

We hit 80 degrees here in Starlight / Hancock yesterday, and today we wake up to 47 – April in the Catskills, what can we say? Good day yesterday on the water before the wind picked up – LOTS of stoneflies of varying sizes (all the way from 18 to 12), and FINALLY:

Cell phone shot, so sorry for the fuzziness – but they are here! As soon as a few more start popping the fish will really turn on. Wiley took two great guys from Switzerland out over the last two days, and they boated some beauties – photos to follow soon!

Hard to believe I went outside of the shop and couldn’t see my breath today!! There was decent insect actvity yesterday until the wind picked up a bit. A few rising fish were seen as well!  The exciting news is that the Paraleps (Blue Quill) are out, and there were some good numbers on the West Branch yesterday, but still not many fish looking up for them due to the water temps. We are still seeing Chimmarra caddis and little black stones, but the Baetis vagans are still absent – let’s hope that changes! Here are your flows:

Bright sun and no fog today – hopefully getting to 60F today! It looks like Cannonsville is spilling a little bit, cooling off the upper West Branch – releases should mitigate the amount of spill and warm up the water a little bit, as will the warmer weather heading our way.
