The Delaware River Club: Upper Delaware River Report 10/23/10
This week’s river conditions are looking really good! The East Branch is running clear, and the West has some color to it, but the visibility is good! Weather forecasts look decent as we head into the weekend, with a little come next week. Fishing reports have been pretty good as of late, with most of the action being subsurface with nymphs and streamers. Caddis activity later in the evenings is still producing some dry fly opportunities as well.

The rivers are in good shape and have been fishing pretty decent as of late. One thing to keep an eye on though is the water levels; the flows are flirting with the floatable/non-floatable mark. Caddis activity, along with some Olives have had some fish up and feeding at the surface lately. Streamers and nymphs continue to be the most effective, and we hear white has been the hot color, but we all know how that can change…

Flows are still falling and the West Branch is going to be too skinny to float starting tomorrow unless they increase the release today or tonight. With these current flows the entire West Branch should be wadable. The flow down on the main stem is nice for wade fishermen as well as anyone trying to float the river. Streamers have still been the most productive way to catch good fish, white and yellow worked well yesterday on the Main.

Delaware River Club: Upper Delaware River Report 10/19/2010
Water conditions are looking good lately and the fishing activity seems to be picking up, but most of the action has been subsurface with the little insect activity as of late, however with clouds in the sky today we may see a fair amount of BWO’s. Temperatures are looking good across the board, but water levels on the West Branch have dropped to where floating is not an option. Rains predicted for the next two days will likely raise water levels to where this will not be an issue for the weekend. Although the surface activity has been spotty, caddis have been showing up in relatively decent numbers later in the evenings and have produced more and more action as the days progress.
The Delaware River Club: Upper Delaware River Report 10/18/10
Blue skies this morning should give way to mostly cloudy conditions as the day progresses. A slight wind is also forecasted for today, but there is little chance of rain. Yesterday produced some Olive activity and even some surface action, and the same can be said for the caddis. Streamers and nymphs were the most productive and took several nice fish despite the heavy wind gusts throughout the day. Today’s conditions are looking good, and so are the next few!

Blue skies and mild temperatures today with a high of 63 degrees. Water conditions are looking good lately and the fishing activity seems to be picking up, but most of the action has been subsurface with the little insect activity as of late. Temperatures are looking good across the board. Rains over the past two days have raised water levels to where floating will not be an issue for the beginning of the week. Although the surface activity has been spotty at best, caddis have been showing up in relatively decent numbers later in the evenings and have produced more and more action as the days progress.

Another windy, rainy, overcast day today. The rivers have also risen some as a result of the rain, so combined with today’s weather patterns, we suspect there will be some excellent streamer activity today and the rest of the weekend. Insect activity has been hit or miss all fall, but Caddis and Olives usually arrive in the most abundant numbers this time of the season, and can produce some great action, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, streamers and nymph fishing have been the most productive techniques.

Overcast and rainy today with some wind and a high of only 50 degrees. Caddis have been stirring up some action later in the evenings this past week and some small Olives have also been coming, but not in any kind of numbers really. The West has gone up slightly with a small increase in the releases and has the river at a floatable level, but some sections may still be a little “skinny”. Streamers should work well on a day like today, and hopefully we will see some more activity with the Olives as well. The East Branch and Main Stem are also in great shape. With favorable water temperatures and decent flows across the board, have conditions looking good headed into the weekend!
