Delaware River Report: April 2, 2024

Yesterday took a while to warm up but it turned in to a beautiful afternoon. We did have a little rain overnight but not enough to bump the flows this morning. Hopefully today”s rain slides around us. Starting off with streamers and nymphs has been the best bet in the morning. The olive hatch is getting better everyday and we’re seeing good numbers of them mixed with stoneflies in the afternoons. Wind may be a factor today along with the cooler air temp. so look for protected areas if possible. Cannonsville is only spilling 8 cfs this morning.

Today will be 43 degrees with .5″ of rain. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the East.

What’s Hatching:
Tiny Black Stonefly – # 18 – Capniidae sp.
Early Black and Brown Stoneflies – # 14 – 16 – Taeniopteryx sp.
Little Black Caddis – #16 – 18 – Chimarra sp.
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #16 – 18 – Baetis spp.

Just in case
Quill Gordon – #14 – Epeorus pluralis
Blue Quill – #16 – 18 – Paraleptophlebia adoptiva
