Delaware River Report: April 20, 2024

The release from Cannonsville has been increased to 1,499 cfs with 1,522 cfs spilling over the dam. The work is finished and we expect the 1,500 release to continue until the spill stops. The wind caused a few issues yesterday but the bugs hatched and the fish rose. Luckily it wasn’t a sustained wing and we had some breaks. Everyone ended up having a good day. Hendricksons, olives, and blue quills are in the mix. We still have some little black caddis and a few stoneflies are still around. Today looks similar with a shift in the wind direction and maybe a bit more sun.

Today will be 57 degrees with clouds and occasional rain showers in the morning. We should see sunshine in the afternoon. Total rainfall will be .04″. Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the North.

Our friend Diane is raising money for one of our favorite events Paint the Delaware Pink — which we host here at the DRC each September. Please consider donating and supporting an amazing program that uses fly fishing as a recovery tool for breast cancer.
