Delaware River Report: April 29, 2023

We had some rain overnight but overall the river flows were not affected. There was a slight bump of a couple hundred cfs on the East Branch. Both Cannonsville and Pepacton Reservoirs are spilling. Floating is a much better option than wading today. The best wading opportunities will be on the Beaverkill and Willowemoc. The wind was unkind yesterday but people still found rising fish. Hendricksons and blue quills made up most of the bugs. Some stretches have good apple caddis so swinging flies can work well. Nymphing worked wee on some stretches and streamers are always a good plan in higher water.

Today will be cooler hitting 50 degrees. We’ll see some showers but total rainfall during the day should be .15″ Wind will be 10 – 20 mph from the South. Hopefully they have the wind wrong.
