We had a few rain showers but the West Branch came through just fine and looks good this morning. The river has been foggy with the weather and lack of wind. Today’s forecast is the same as yesterday. There are still midday sulphurs and tiny olives on the upper river sections. The mid to lower West has been fishing better over the last few days because of the clouds and rain. Olives, a few sulphurs, and Isonychias. Blind casting or covering one time risers with Isos has put some fish in the net. Nymphing will be the best bet early but there have been fish eating left over bugs and spinners in some of the bigger pools.
Today will be 83 degrees with clouds in the morning and possible scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. Wind will be light and variable.
The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps will climb too high in today’s sunshine. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
