Delaware River Report: August 4, 2025

The release from Cannonsville is 600 cfs. The increase shouldn’t be noticeable and the West Branch is still in good shape for wading and floating. We’re in for another sunny day so normal early August conditions. The Upper East and Upper West will have the best shot at midday dry fly fishing with sulphurs and small olives. The lower West is better for nymphing and wets since there has been some algae up top. There are some Isonychias hatching sporadically throughout the river so working the riffles could pay off.

The Beaverkill, Lower East Branch, and Mainstem water temps are still peaking in the mid to high 70’s. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.

Today will be 84 degrees and sunny. There may some smoke in the air reducing visibility Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

It’s that time of year. August 15 – 16. Let’s clean up the river!
