Delaware River Report: August 5, 2024

We had a few morning rain showers yesterday but the West Branch flows didn’t bump at all. Today looks mostly sunny so the best shot at dry fly fishing should be the midday sulphurs and olives on the upper river sections. If we do get hit by a stray shower or afternoon storm there is a chance of some olives and a few Isonychias on the mid to lower West Branch. It’s been spotty but there have been some fish eating left over spinners and olives in the bigger pools before the sun hits the water.

Today will be 86 degrees with a mix of clouds and sun. There is a chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the South.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps will climb too high in today’s sunshine. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
