Delaware River Report: August 6, 2022

There was another pulse from Cannonsville overnight so we are starting off this morning at 668 cfs at Stilesville. The flow has peaked and is dropping back already. It should filter through the West Branch by the afternoon. It’s still at a fine level for wading and floating. Sometimes the pulses knock weeds loose so keep that in mind if you’re nymphing – especially above Hale Eddy. Small sulphurs and cahills are still hatching during the afternoon in the coldest river sections. Definitely have your small olive box too. The lower river sections have been a mix of olives and cahills towards dark. There are a few caddis around so that might be worth a shot on picky fish. Today will be 88 degrees with a small shot at some afternoon thunderstorms. Wind 5 – 10 mph from the South.

The East Branch at Fishs Eddy, the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, and the Mainstem at Lordville all peaked over 70 degrees yesterday. Give these sections a break until we get cooler temps.

Another pulse from Cannonsville to keep Lordville at 75 degrees
