Delaware River Report: August 7, 2024

We were hit with some heavy rain last night but the West Branch came through in pretty good shape. The flow is 751 cfs at Hale Eddy. There is a lot of water coming in from the feeder streams. Oquaga Creek is only 58 cfs but it is still rising. We have a tint to the water in Homepool but it was definitely clear enough to fish at 6:30 am. If anything changes dramatically we’ll post an update. The flow at Stilesville is still 509 cfs so no change up there. We’re still finding some sulphurs on the upper West mixed with the olives. The lower West should fish well with streamers and nymphs. The cooler weather and cloud cover should help. The rivers should cool down a bit as the runoff subsides.

Today will be 71 degrees with clouds and slight chance of a rain shower. Wind will be light and variable.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps will climb too high. It’s time to give these rivers a break.

Hale Eddy is still climbing at 6:45 am. Click the gauge links for the latest flows
