Delaware River Report: August 7, 2025

The release from Cannonsville is 500 cfs. We’re coming off a cool night and the water temps are starting off a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday. We should have a bit more sun so they’ll climb a bit this afternoon. So it’s the same, normal August program. Midday sulphurs and olives on the Upper West and Upper East. The bugs have been a bit spotty on some sections so if you’re not seeing much mid afternoon move up or down a couple of pools. If you want to nymph or swing wets stick to the lower West Branch due to the algae in Deposit. The lower West has been decent for blind casting Isonychias and Cahills and has had some hatching as the sun drops.

The Beaverkill, Lower East Branch, and Mainstem water temps are still peaking in the mid to high 70’s. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.

Today will be 81 degrees and partly cloudy. There may some smoke in the air causing some haze but it should be less than yesterday. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.
