It seems like most of the rain went South of us and the river flows are in decent shape this morning. The West Branch at Hale Eddy is 569 cfs and beginning to drop. We may see another 1/4″ fall today before it clears up overnight and we’re back to sunshine tomorrow. Little black caddis, stoneflies, and a few olives are on the water. People are finding some rising fish in spots but most are coming to the net on nymphs and streamers. That should shift in the next week as the hatches intensify. The release from Cannonsville is 374 cfs.
What’s Hatching:
Early Black / Brown Stone – #14 – 16 – Taeniopteryx fasciiata, Brachytera sp.
Tiny Black Stonefly – #18 – Capniidae sp.
Little Black Caddis – #18 – 20 – Chimarra sp.
Blue Wing Olives – #16 – 18 – Baetis vagans
