A few of yesterday’s thunderstorms did hit us around dinner time. We had some heavy rain and lightening for a bit but things have settled down and the West Branch is fishable this morning. The water is clear nough for fish to rise out front and the flow is 738 cfs and falling at Hale Eddy offering both wade and float opportunities. A lot of the rain soaked into the ground. We have the same forecast today but the predicted amount of rain is only 1/4″ in the afternoon. The cloud cover is great to have after all the sun we’ve dealt with lately. The air temp will hit the low 80’s with wind from the South 4 – 6 mph. We’re still mainly fishing isonychias, sulphurs, and olives. There are aa few golden drakes and steno / cahills out there too. Some of the tricos are hatching in the evening so have some of those in your box along with the pseudos.
Water temps are hot on the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville. Give the fish a break in those areas and fish colder water.
