Delaware River Report / Conditions August 8, 2019

We had some rain overnight that bumped the flows on the Beaverkill and lower East Branch.  The ground is wet on the West Branch but most of the rain missed us and Hale Eddy is a little lower than yesterday.  There were the normal sulphurs, isonychias, and olives on the upper West.  The intensity of the hatch varies day to day so move around if you don’t see decent bugs.  The lower West is still fishing best with nymphs and wets but there have been days we’ve seen hatches coming off in the afternoon.  It’s been hard to predict so be prepared for just about anything out there.  We may see some additional afternoon thunderstorms today but they have been very sporadic.

Water temps are hot on the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville.  Give the fish a break in those areas and fish colder water.
