The air temp is 55 degrees this morning and it feels great after the weekend temps. We’ll hit the high 70’s today with sunshine and wind 5 – 10 from the North. It’s going to be a pleasant day on the water. Hatching was sparse on the lower West Branch yesterday but it did fish well with nymphs and wet flies. The dry fly activity is much better in the upper river with the colder water. Sulphurs, olives, and isonychias will cover most of your needs. We’ve seen decent action lower but it does tend to be more sporadic so be flexible. The rest of the week looks like today with no rain the forecast through the weekend.
Water temps are cooling on the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville but are still high. Give the fish a break in those areas for another day.
