Delaware River Report / Conditions July 25, 2019

We’re coming off another night in the 50’s and into another day of high 70’s, wind 5 – 10 from the north, and some sunshine.  That pretty much describes yesterday.  The hatches should be about the same with sulphurs, olives, and a few isonychias in the coldest water.  The afternoon sulphur hatch intensity on the upper West will vary day to day but they will hatch.  Lower will be the same bugs but slower hatching until dark or after dark.  Nymphing, swinging wets, or blind casting isonychias are your best bets during the day on the lower West.   Sulphur spinners should be around after dark too so have those patterns in your box.  Wunderground doesn’t have any rain in the forecast until Monday.

Water temps are hot on the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem at Lordville.  Give the fish a break in those areas and fish colder water.
