The runoff is subsiding and the West Branch at Hale Eddy flow is back to the 750 cfs range. We didn’t even get enough rain yesterday to knock the dust down on the roads. People did well on streamers in the morning but the bite dropped off when the sun really popped out and the river cleared. Today will be much cooler hitting 84 degrees with light and variable wind. It will be mostly sunshine. We should see the nighttime temp drop into the mid 50’s. That should help the water temps a little.
The lower East Branch, lower Beaverkill, and Mainstem will be too hot to fish today. The water temps peaked at or over 70 degrees yesterday and are starting off warmer this morning. Please give these rivers a break and fish the cold water areas.
