We had a heavy mist here on the lower West Branch yesterday but most of the rain seems to have missed us. The cloud cover and little rain we received did help the bugs and people found fish eating earlier in the day. Blue wing olives, sulphurs, and cahills were the most talked about flies. The sun came out in the afternoon (not part of Wunderground’s forecast) and pushed things back to evening. Everything is dry this morning so the overnight thunderstorms missed us too. The Beaverkill did get a little rain that bumped the flow but it has already dropped back. If Wunderground is correct today we have a 50% chance of rain totaling just under 1/4″. A mix of clouds and sun, 75 degrees, and wind 5 – 10 from the South.
It won’t take much sunshine to heat up the Mainstem, Lower East Branch, and Beaverkill so it’s time to check the water temps with a thermometer before you fish those rivers.
