Delaware River Report / Conditions September 24, 2018

The rivers flows are still dropping slowly this morning.  The release from Cannonsville is still 695 cfs until further notice.  We do have that normal fall “color” coming out of Cannonsville Reservoir but that hasn’t stopped the fish from eating small olives, cahills, and stenos.  Last night was decent in the early evening with the olives making up most of the hatch.  The fish did seem to be eating quite a few of them as emergers just under the surface.  A small wet would have been perfect but if you didn’t have one they would eventually eat the dry on a good drift.  Today should be similar to yesterday with a bit more wind.  We may get some rain overnight- hopefully it misses us!

Hatching:
Light Cahill – #14 – 16 – Steno spp.
Isonychia – #12-2xl – 12 – Isonychia bicolor
Olive Sulphur – #18 -20 – Heptagenia hebe
Light Blue Winged Olives – #16 – 20 – E. attenuata
Dark Blue Winged Olives – #18 – 22 – E. lata
Tiny Blue Wing Olives #20 – 26 – Psuedo sp.
Green Caddis – #16 – Ryacophila sp.
Tan Caddis #14 – 16 – Hydropsyche sp.
