They pulsed Cannonsville up to 608 cfs last night but it is already dropping back to 500 cfs. We had a brief but heavy rain shower yesterday afternoon but the rain soaked right in to the ground. We’re in the normal Summer program now so the fishing hasn’t changed. Go to the coldest water for daytime dry fly action. If you want to nymph or swing wets stay a little lower to avoid the algae in Deposit. Sulphurs, Cahills, Isonychias, olives, and some caddis are all out on the water. Blind casting Cahills and Isonychias can be effective when there isn’t a hatch.
Today will be 86 degrees and sunny. Wind will be light and variable.
What’s Hatching:
Dark Blue Wing Olive – #16 – 18 – Baetis vagans
Sulphur – 16 – 20 – Ephemerella dorothea
Tan Caddis – #16 – 20 – Hydrosyche sp
Light Cahill – #14 – Epeorus vitreus, Ephemerella invaria, Stenacron spp.
Slate Drake – #12-2xl – 12 – Isonychia bicolor
