Delaware River Report: July 18, 2025

The thunderstorms missed us again and the West Branch looks good again this morning. It’s going to be 10 degrees cooler today and already feels much better outside. The best hatching will still be in the coldest water so Upper West and Upper East are the two best bets during the day. Midday sulphurs are on mixed with some olives, Isonychias, and Cahills. There are a few tan caddis around as a bonus. The lower West is in great shape for nymphing or blind casting bigger flies through the riffles.

The Beaverkill, Lower East Branch, and Mainstem water temps are all peaked in the mid to high 70’s yesterday. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.

Today will be 77 degrees with clouds early and sun in the afternoon. Wind will be 10 – 15 mph from the North.

It’s that time of year. August 15 – 16. Let’s clean up the river!
