Delaware River Report: July 20, 2024

The Cannonsville release is steady at 500 cfs. We should have cloud cover with a slight chance of rain. It looks like a good day to be on the water. The best bet for dry fly fishing will still be the midday sulphurs and olives close to the dams. There are some Isonychias and cahills in the mix. The lower West has fished best with nymphs but people are finding fish blind casting Isonychias in the riffles. We may see some bugs get pushed if we get the rain showers but most of the hatching has been at dark or after dark on the lower West.

Today will be 81 degrees, cloudy, with a slight chance of a rain shower. Total rainfall should only be .11″ Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps are all too hot to fish this morning. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
