Delaware River Report: July 21, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

We had some rain overnight that bumped the flows slightly but the West Branch looks good at 700 cfs. It’s clear out front and is a good level for floating and wading. Deposit is still your best bet for daytime hatching but the cloud cover and potential thunderstorms could push the the bugs a little earlier on the lower West. Blind casting Isonychias and light cahills is still putting some fish in the net.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be 77 degrees with clouds this morning and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.
