Delaware River Report: July 21, 2024

We had a brief rain shower yesterday but the rain soaked into the ground and the West Branch flow didn’t bump. The release from Cannonsville remains 500 cfs so we’re in good shape for wading and floating. We’ll have more sun today so the best dry fly action will continue to be above Hale Eddy with sulphurs and olives. The mid to lower West Branch continues to be better for nymphing or blind casting Isonychias or cahills. The next few days look good with cloud cover and some rain showers.

Today will be 83 degrees with sunshine and clouds mixed. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps are all too hot to fish this morning. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
