Delaware River Report: July 22, 2024

Today looks like a good day to be on the water with cloud cover and hopefully some light rain in the afternoon. Wunderground is calling for 1/4″ which won’t do anything to the flows but it beats bright sun and may push some blue wing olives. The best bet for daytime bugs is still going to be the midday sulphurs and olives on the upper river sections. If we do get the rain we may get fog. The clouds should also be good for the nymphing on the mid to lower West. There are still isonychias and cahills in the mix too.

Today will be 83 degrees with partly cloudy skies giving way to cloudy skies and rain in the afternoon. Total rainfall should be 1/4″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the South.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, the East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and the Mainstem water temps are all too hot to fish this morning. It’s time to give these rivers a break.
