The release from Cannonsville seems to be around 750 cfs. The increase is most likely a pulse to keep the Mainstem at Lordville under 75 degrees. It’s tough to say how long it will last so check the Stilesville gauge for the latest information. All the rivers got a small bump from the rain but not enough to really matter. The West Branch is still at a good level for floating and wading. Hopefully the increased release will flush some of the algae from up top. Even with the higher release the best shot at dry fly fishing will be the coldest water on the Upper West Branch and Upper East Branch. We’re still seeing midday sulphurs and small olives.
The Beaverkill, Lower East Branch, and Mainstem water temps are still peaking in the mid to high 70’s. It’s time to give these rivers a break until they cool back down.
Today will be 89 degrees and partly cloudy. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the North.
