Delaware River Report: July 29, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

We have cloud cover this morning with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. The wind doesn’t look bad at 5 – 10 mph but we may see some higher gusts. That could keep the fog off the water in Deposit so today the wind may help. Dry fly fishing is still small sulphurs and olives close to the dams in the coldest water. Below Hale Eddy is mostly nymphing or swinging wet flies. Streamers could be a good option if we get the rain.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville will peak over 70 degrees today. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will be 83 degrees with clouds in the morning and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rainfall could be .5″. Wind will be 5 – 10 mph from the West.
