Delaware River Report: July 4, 2024

Happy Fourth of July! The fly shop is open this morning.

The sun yesterday didn’t help the hatches or the water temps. There were opportunities but waiting until dark was the best option. We are starting the day with clouds and scattered rain around the area. Hopefully the clouds will stay – great for fishing, less desirable for July 4th parties. Have your summer mayflies ready – sulphurs, Isos, cahills, olives. Look out for spinners in the last light.

Today will be cloudy with a high of 83. Winds light and variable from the South and WSW.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville water temps all peaked at 70 degrees or higher yesterday. It’s still time to give these rivers a break.
