Delaware River Report: July 8, 2023

The aqueduct work has been pushed off again. It is now scheduled for Fall of 2024.

Yesterday we were hit by some isolated storms that colored the West Branch. They rain ended early enough that we look fine this morning and the flow is just about back to where we started yesterday morning. Visibility is not an issue in Homepool this morning. We have some midday sulphurs and olives in Deposit. Nymphing is best on the lower West due to the algae in the upper river. Once the sun drops we’re finding Isonychias, olives, and a few cahills on the lower West.

The Beaverkill at Cooks Falls, East Branch at Fishs Eddy, and Mainstem at Lordville all peaked over 70 degrees yesterday. It’s time to give these sections a break and fish the colder water.

Today will 81 degrees with mostly sunshine. We should see a few clouds move in during the afternoon with a slight chance of a stray shower. Wind will be light and variable.
